In the style of Piet Mondrian

Get to work like a real Mondrian in this creative children's workshop.

In the children's workshop In the style of Piet Mondrian you will learn all about this famous Dutch artist and get to work like one yourself!

Born in Amersfoort, Piet Mondrian is best known for his abstract paintings with black lines and planes in the colours red, blue and yellow. Mondrian was also a member of an artists' group that called itself De Stijl. The artists of 'De Stijl' believed that, as an artist, you should only use the three primary colours - red, blue and yellow. They supplemented these three colours with black, grey and white, the three 'non-colours'. Furthermore, all lines and angles had to be straight.

In the children's workshop In the style of Piet Mondrian you will first look at and discuss Mondrian's abstract artworks What do you notice? What is actually abstract? And how was the painting made? Then you get to work yourself under the guidance of a museum teacher. You can take your artwork home afterwards.
