M Stands 4 - Marit meets Mondrian

Artist Marit Otto is one of the participants in the exhibition 25 x 25 x 25 at the Mondrian House. In a lecture on 9 February, she will explore the Mondrian within herself. Is it present and what does it express itself in?

M Stands 4 is the title of Marit Otto's submitted work for the exhibition 25 x 25 x 25 but also the title of her lecture on 9 February at the museum. The title refers, among other things, to the M of creator Marit and the M of inspiration and subject Mondrian. The lecture gives an insight into the artist's work, her train of thought, her quest and how she goes about her work.

In the lecture, Marit first takes you back to the starting point, her first studio in an old craft school. A school that taught in an to The Style related architecture; The New Objectivity. You then join her on her journey towards autonomy in autonomous art. In this, Marit explores the question of why she makes what she makes and which stylistic elements are a regular feature of her work. Are there similarities, perhaps in working methods? Perhaps in the graphic sleek undertone, the love of Jazz/music? Or is there possibly something else that binds them?

The lecture is for anyone who wants to know more about Marit Otto and her work M Stands 4. How much of an influence did Mondrian have on an artist who at first glance was far from him?

Afterwards, there will be ample opportunity to talk to Marit and ask her questions.
