Activities in the autumn holidays

During the autumn holidays, the Mondrian House will be open extra on Monday 22 October 2018. There are also fun workshops and activities for young and old during this period. Will you come along too?

Also during the autumn holidays, you can visit the Mondrian House's DIY workshop every day. There is also a fun scavenger hunt and various creative workshops for children and adults.

DIY workshop

After visiting our Mondrian exhibition, do you feel like making a work of art too? You can do so in our DIY workshop.
We have come up with a few fun tasks for you to do, but of course you are welcome to think of something yourself. Or have fun on the lego wall.

Scavenger hunt

The artist Piet Mondrian is most famous for his paintings with black lines and red, yellow and blue areas. Want to find out more about him? Then hunt for the hidden puzzle pieces in the museum. Participation in the treasure hunt is free and suitable for children aged 7 to 12. Ask for it at the Mondrian House reception desk!

Painting workshop for adults (FULL BOOKED)

Retrieved from Friday 26 October there is another painting workshop for adults. This time with the theme 'Paris' . In it, participants are introduced to the Parisian period within Piet Mondrian's oeuvre. In the French capital, the artist was introduced to the work of big names such as Picasso and Braque and eventually arrived at his own and characteristic abstract painting style. In this workshop, participants will follow in Mondrian's footsteps and create an abstracted painting.

Children's workshop Ginger pot with flower (FULL BOOKED)

Retrieved from Sunday 21 October 2018 you are going to recreate or paint a ginger pot with a flower. Only you don't have to do so in every detail. Do like Piet Mondrian: draw only the main outlines, leaving out as much as possible. So we will work abstractly with charcoal, wax crayons and paint. And on a large sheet of paper, so we have plenty of space and don't have to fiddle around.

Children's Mondrian painting workshop (FULL BOOKED)

Paint on Monday, 22 October 2018 a Mondrian-style plate, glass, mug or bowl. Meanwhile, you will learn something about the famous artist. Who was Piet Mondrian and how did he conceive his paintings? And why did he often use the colours red, yellow and blue with black lines? After the workshop you can take your work home. The workshop takes place in the DIY studio, but you can also visit the museum. Because of the autumn holidays, the museum will be open extra this Monday.

Children's workshop Victory Boogiewoogie (FULL BOOKED)

Music can put you in a certain mood. It can make you happy or make you a little sad. Painter Piet Mondrian was inspired by different styles of music when he painted. By jazz music, for instance, and by the boogiewoogie. His last work of art is even called the Victory Boogie Woogie During the children's workshop on Wednesday, 24 October 2018 you will experience painting to music together with the museum teacher. What do you paint when you hear a slow melody? And what if the music is very soft or loud? Different kinds of music will be played and, of course, the rhythmic boogiewoogie!
