Want to know more about Mondrian's landscapes and how they influenced his later work? The Mondrian House and Volksuniversiteit Amersfoort are organising the lecture 'Mondrian - Ode to the landscape'. The speaker is art historian Diana Kostman.
When the name Piet Mondrian comes to mind, almost everyone automatically thinks of his abstract works. Yet in his early period, this artist liked to be inspired by the landscape and his first abstractions would also have their origins in experimenting with landscapes. During this lecture, art historian Diana Kostman will tell you about the importance of landscape in Mondrian's work. Following the lecture, she will show you around the Mondrian House and the exhibition Ode to the landscape.
Diana Kostman specialises in modern art and wrote her doctoral thesis on American Pop Art. However, her interests and expertise encompass all of art history. Since 2006, she has taught art history courses on various topics with great enthusiasm and professionalism. She also writes texts for artists, is a member of Blaricum's art committee and a board member of the artists' union AKKV.
