Are you curious about what goes into making a graphic novel? In this master class, graphic novelist Erik de Graaf takes you through the process from idea to graphic novel.
Erik talks about the creation of his own publication Mondrian, a better world, in which he depicted the philosophy behind Mondrian's abstract paintings. From the very first inspiration, creating scenarios, sketching, choosing a colour palette, layering the story, colouring in and finally placing the texts.
Then it's time to start working on your own. Put your own ideas on paper in a short comic strip form. Of course, Erik will give you plenty of examples of all kinds of comic styles and help you on your way. The results of the master class participants are shared at the end.
Meanwhile, you can ask him all kinds of questions and get his book signed if you like. So be sure to take a look at the exhibition first Mondrian, a better world | Erik de Graaf.
