Piet Mondrian was born in Amersfoort on 7 March 1872. The Mondrian House celebrates this 150th anniversary and kicks off with a painting competition with the theme 'Guts'.
Do you have as much courage as Mondrian?
The assignment of the painting competition is: be inspired by the theme 'Guts'. During his artistic career, Piet Mondrian painted various subjects in a variety of styles, from figurative landscapes, flowers and portraits to the famous abstract compositions with primary colours. Mondrian had guts and dared to go off the beaten track. Participants in the Mondrian Contest can decide which style or aspect of Mondrian they feel inspired by and bring it forward in their own creation. Only condition is that it fits on a 24 x 30 cm canvas.
A digital painting is also allowed
Besides paint, you may use other materials for your painting. You can also make a digital painting, as long as it can be printed in 24 x 30 cm format (in connection with possible exhibition in the museum).
Submit until 6 February
Participants can submit their artwork until Sunday, February 6, 2022. Mail a photo of your artwork and the completed competition form to [email protected]
Will your artwork soon be on display?
The nominated entries will be exhibited in the museum's DIY studio. An expert jury will select the winners.
