Evelien de Goeij is exhibiting her drawings at the Mondriaan Café during the free Amersfoort art event Vreemde Gasten.
Vreemde Gasten is a free-to-view exhibition of contemporary art at several locations in downtown Amersfoort. In historic buildings and striking residential houses, exhibitors at 6 and 7 October from 12:00 - 17:00 well-known and lesser-known artists from the region. All visitors are strange but welcome guests. A fantastic opportunity to see not only the art but also the houses.
Once conceived by some art-loving inner-city residents, Vreemde Gasten has been an indispensable art event in Amersfoort's old town since 2010. Traditionally during the first weekend of October, always in an even-numbered year. This marks its first lustrum in 2018.
Not only visitors and exhibitors react enthusiastically to this event, but homeowners also appear to have a warm heart for Vreemde Gasten. Some hosts and hostesses have been opening their homes to art and art lovers completely free of interest since the first edition.
The Mondrian House is also hosting Strange Guests. Artist Evelien de Goeij will exhibit her drawings at the Mondrian Café. Evelien on her work: "My fascination is the city and I am inspired by the buildings of metropolises. I create my own image of stacking houses and buildings and am interested in the structures, layering and shadows that arise in the process. I take the phenomenon of people living close together and on top of each other as a starting point for my own interpretation of a city. I call this city stacking."
For the most logical walking route along all locations, a catalogue is available, on sale for €5 at, among others, the Elleboogkerk (Langegracht 36), the location for the overview exhibition of Vreemde Gasten and also the starting point of the route. You can also purchase the catalogue at the Mondriaanhuis, VVV Amersfoort (Breestraat 1) and Bananas (Kamp 17).
