Workshop PHiNG-THiNGS

Is it a bird? Or a plane? A PHiNG-THiNG is a funny creature that will make you happy. Will you come and paint one? You can on Friday 11 August at the Mondrian House.

Due to 75 years of Amersfoort Zoo the Mondrian House organises several workshops this summer holiday that have something to do with animals. A PHiNG-THiNG is a funny little creature that resembles a penguin or an owl. He is still white, but you can give him a colour. In the process, you will also learn something about Piet Mondrian and his love for primary colours. Afterwards, you can take your work of art home with you. Give your PHiNG THiNG a nice spot at home or give it to someone as a present!

Project PHiNG-THiNG

The creator of PHiNG -THiNG is Gert-Jan Vlaming. He actually made his first PHiNG THiNG by accident on a trip to China. A simple figurine without a mouth or eyes, which turned out to make people very happy. Now he distributes them all over the world, making them give everyone who sees or holds them a happy feeling of cheerfulness. Although all PHiNG-THiNGs look the same, each one is unique. One by one, they are handmade by artisans who enjoy working on them.
The figurines are 16 cm high, 16 cm wide and 9 cm deep. Plaster PHiNG-THiNGs are made in the Netherlands by people distanced from the regular labour market.
