The Mondrian House offers museum lessons for groups 1 to 8.

The Mondrian House has an attractive programme for primary schools. The museum lesson introduces children interactively to the museum in general and to the life and work of Piet Mondrian in particular.

Group 1 + 2: All artists

What is an artist? What does an artist do and what does he need? Pupils are taken into the world of artists with, of course, a strong focus on Piet Mondrian. At the Mondrian House, they step inside his studio and view his painting equipment.

Group 3 + 4: A museum for everyone

Children learn what a museum is through search and do tasks. Why is there a museum about Mondrian? And what do you show there? Through practical assignments and role-plays, pupils explore.

Group 5: Painting

Several famous painters including Mondrian worked in Amersfoort. What did you used to have to do to master the technique of painting? And what tools were used in the process? In this workshop, children experience that painting is not only a matter of talent.

Group 6-8: Escapetour: Journey with Mondrian

Step into the mysterious world of Piet Mondrian during our unique, interactive Escapetour! This challenging museum lesson takes pupils from grades 6, 7 and 8 on a creative journey of discovery through Mondrian's life and art periods. Armed with curiosity and cooperation, pupils dive into the famous artist's story. Can they unravel his secrets and ultimately complete his last composition?

What makes this museum lesson special?

  • Unique and innovative way to discover the museum through an escapetour.
  • Students explore the characteristics of Mondrian's art style and recognise them in his works.
  • Working together on creative tasks and a collaborative artwork.
  • Through games, children learn through discovery and experience.

Discover, unravel and create!
Playing the role of young art experts, pupils unravel the mysterious suitcases left behind by Piet Mondrian. Using riddles and tasks, they collect codes to open locks. Only by combining their knowledge of Mondrian with teamwork do they manage to open the suitcases and bring the unfinished masterpiece to life.

A practical or interactive processing assignment will also be added to each teaching package.
