De Stijl cycle route

Cycle in Amersfoort past the Mondrian House, the Rietveld Pavilion and numerous other buildings reminiscent of De Stijl with a special cycle route available from the Mondrian House.

VVV Amersfoort has published a cycle route through the city with the theme "100 years of De Stijl, along traces of de Stijl and the Amsterdam school." The cycle route is also available at the Mondrian House.

De Stijl is a Dutch art movement named after the magazine De Stijl, founded in 1917. The main members of De Stijl were Theo van Doesburg, Bart van der Leck, Gerrit Rietveld and, of course, Piet Mondrian.

The cycle route leads through Amersfoort past the Mondrian House on Kortegracht, the Rietveld Pavilion on Zonnehof and past several impressive villas designed by Rietveld. A number of beautiful Amsterdam School buildings will also be visited. The Amsterdam School is an architectural style, which, like De Stijl, can be placed in the period of Modern Architecture.

You can rest after cycling on the atmospheric terrace of the Berghotel. Here you can also enjoy a delicious Mondrian pastry !

The cycle route is available for €1.50 at the Mondrian House's Museum Shop.
