This week, the Mondrian House was nominated for both the Heritage in Motion Awards 2017 and the British Guild of Travel Writers Tourism Awards 2017.
Heritage in Motion is an annual international multimedia competition for cultural heritage projects that highlight cultural heritage through the use of digital media, games, apps, etc. The Mondrian House was nominated for its multimedia installations, which have been on display since its reopening in March 2017. These presentations were developed by Utrecht-based agency Tinker Imagineers. The winners will be announced on 29 September 2017 in Skopje, Macedonia.
British Guild of Travel Writers Tourism Awards 2017
The Mondrian House is also one of three finalists in the Europe category for the annual British Guild of Travel Writers Tourism Awards. This award has been presented to new tourism initiatives for forty years. The winners will be announced in London on 5 November.
The Mondrian House has been in the spotlight since its reopening. Indeed, the Mondrian House also recently received an honourable mention at the international Museums in Short award ceremony for the video installation New York .
The focus on the Mondrian House has also translated into a sharp increase in visitors. Since its reopening on 7 March, the museum received over 30,000 visitors in six months. In previous years, the Mondrian House received just under 20,000 visitors a year.
