The Mondrian House recently acquired the work 'M stands 4' by visual artist Marit Otto. Otto incorporated portraits of the young and old Mondrian in this wall sculpture.
Marit Otto (Hoorn,1970) has been working as a visual artist since 1994. Her work is multidisciplinary and includes painting, collage, installation, digital art, photo manipulation, video art and 3d.Characteristic of the Zwolle-based artist's work is the central role for humans in form and behaviour. It often reflects current social themes but the everyday and the personal are also important sources of inspiration.
In 2019, Otto made M stands 4 following the 25x25x25 exhibition at the Mondrian House. For this exhibition, 25 artists from artist association De Ploegh were invited to create new work inspired by Mondrian.
M stands 4 was acquired with support from the Friends of the Mondrian House and is currently on display at the museum.
