New acquisition

The Mondrian House has acquired a photograph by artist duo Het Wilde Oog. The photograph is currently part of the Spakenburg Divas exhibition at the Mondriaan House.

The Mondrian House expanded its collection by acquiring Hendrik with yellow paint roller for Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue III by Barnett Newman.

Het Wilde Oog (artist duo Hans Lemmerman and Inge van Run) has been portraying women in traditional Spakenburg costume combined with modern and contemporary art for 20 years. This produces surprising, estranged and also funny images.

The photo of Hendrikje with yellow paint roller was taken in 2017 at Kunsthal KAdE, where Newman's famous work, from the collection of Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, was on display as part of the exhibition The Colours of The Style.

The work was acquired with support from the Friends of the Mondrian House

The new acquisition is on display at the Mondrian House until 25 October as part of the exhibition Spakenburg Divas
