The Mondrian House received many positive reactions to its multimedia design. Now it has also been nominated for the International Design Excellence Awards.
Since the redesign of the Mondrian House in early 2017, both video installations have become real crowd-pullers. On the ground floor, visitors become part of Piet Mondrian's artistic development over the years. From early figurative work to his progressive abstract compositions.
Upstairs is the New York room. It focuses on the American period (early 1940s) in Mondrian's life. You experience the vibrant and dynamic New York through the eyes of the artist himself. And join him on his voyage of discovery. In 3D, you thus experience Mondrian's artistic quest that led to his absolute masterpiece, the Victory Boogie Woogie.
Responsible for the redesign of the Mondrian House is design firm Tinker Imagineers. The jury of the International Design Excellence Awards praised the way Tinker cleverly merged Mondrian's iconic work and his favourite jazz music into an audiovisual experience.
