From Friday 28 to Sunday 30 October 2022, houseboat Robbedoes, also known as the 'Mondrian boat', will be in Amersfoort harbour. A small Mondrian-inspired exhibition 'Special Artists meet Mondrian' will be set up on the ship that weekend. The exhibition is a collaboration of the Mondrian House with Special Arts. The exhibition is free to visit.
Special Arts Foundation encourages people with disabilities to practice art and develop their talents. Some of the foundation's participants drew inspiration from Mondrian paintings. They set to work with paint, but also with pencil, needle and thread and ceramics. The result is a surprising and imaginative exhibition that can be admired in the Mondrian boat for a weekend. The work of the Special Arts exhibitors will be shown in combination with reproductions of paintings by Piet Mondrian. For this occasion, the boat is berthed in the Eemhaven, off footbridge the Sasje.
Houseboat Spiro
The Spiro is the houseboat of Anneke and Wim Robbertsen. In late 2015, they bought this vessel, which was converted into a sailing houseboat after a life as a working freighter. Since September 2016, they have been living on the water and the Robbedoes is usually moored at its permanent berth on Havenweg in Amersfoort. The couple regularly cast off the ropes to cruise the many beautiful waterways. Anneke has written a Dromen-Durven-Doen book about their adventure and in daily life is, among other things, hostess of the Bed & Breakfast on board. Currently, the ship can occasionally be seen in the hit series Oogappels, as the home of one of the characters in the series. With Amersfoort as her home port and to give the ship a bit more face, Anneke painted a Mondrian-inspired composition on the cabin. Since then, Spirou has carried the title 'Mondrian boat'.
Mondrian walk
During the weekend of 28 to 30 October, in cooperation with the Amersfoort Guides, a Mondrian walk can also be done every day. together with the city guide, you will discover how Mondrian and his family lived in Amersfoort and what the city looked like back then. The walk includes a visit to the Special Arts gallery and the end point is the 'Mondrian boat'.

Mondrian 150
The Special Artists meet Mondrian exhibition on the Mondrian boat is organised to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Piet Mondrian, who was born in Amersfoort in 1872. A second exhibition Special Artists meet Mondrian can be found at the Marienhof. This exhibition is also free to visit.
