In this summer holiday painting workshop, children are introduced to the art of omission. And paint their own abstract bird.
At the Mondrian House now Birds & Fish - The art of omission on show. Part of this exhibition are the Blocbirds by the artist duo Paul & Albert. In this series, 25 different birds have been reduced to abstract graphic compositions. The workshop starts with a tour of the exhibition.
Do we still recognise the birds? And what actually is abstraction? What colours do you recognise from the birds? The longer we look, the more details we start to see. Do patterns of plumage become visible?
Then we take acrylic paint and brush and paint our own abstracted bird. Wondering if soon your bird will be recognised!
